Association for Development (AFD) was founded in the year 1993 with a mission to uplift the weaker and underprivileged sections of society through programmes that have a strong community orientation. The organization has focused primarily on issues related to children and women, dealing mainly with sexual assault cases referred by the Delhi police and gradually extended their work to child education and protection. Child protection and development, which includes protection of children from commercial sexual exploitation, trafficking, child labour, promoting education and harmful traditional practices such as child marriage, have been the focus of the organization.
